CALL FOR PAPERS
The intensity and frequency of natural disasters have been rising worldwide. How do they affect forest, and what are the measures being implemented or designed to protect and restore forests before and after a natural disaster?
This conference will bring forest and natural disaster experts together to share their findings and the latest developments. The scope of the conference will include how the different forms of disasters impact forests, monitoring methods for warning and preventive measures, and post-disaster mitigation.
This conference covers all kind of natural disaster that could affect the forests. But we will divided the discussion into three groups of natural disasters:
1) Earthbound disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and landslides;
2) Atmospheric and water-related disasters such as forest fire, tsunamis, hurricanes, floods and chemical exposure; and
3) Forest diseases caused by alien/invasive flora or fauna species, and germs.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This conference responds to the need to look at natural disasters from the perspective of forest ecosystem. It should draw the attention of both natural disaster and forest specialists. In particular, natural disaster and/or forest researchers from academic institutions, government and international agencies, and disaster relief organizations are encouraged to attend.
Paper requirements and submission:
To apply, please login / to complete the registration and then submit your English abstract in the website or send it by email in WORD file to csf_org@caf.ac.cn before March 1, 2010. The abstract should not exceed 400 words with font 14 for the title and font 12 for the texts. File names should be titled as: Surname_Disaster type.doc (e.g. Smith_wild fire.doc). The title of the paper, the author's full name and affiliation(s) and contact details should be printed before the body of the abstract. If your paper is written by more than one author, submission means at least one author of the abstract will register for the conference.

This conference will be conducted in English.
